java podcasting at javaposse

Sat, Oct 8, 2005

JavaPosse is a new Java dev site and it’s the beez kneez I tell you. The first podcast is an interview with Rob Harwood of Jetbrains about my favourite IDE, IntelliJ IDEA.

To me, this is the best IDE on the market. Streets ahead of the KitchenSink, Eclipse. I’ve used JBuilder, NetBeans and played with Eclipse. JBuilder was just too restrictive with coding conventions and NetBeans was a joke. It wanted me to mount a filesystem before it would open a file, I ask you! Eclipse tries to be too many things to too many people. It’s a platform for plugins rather than a productive IDE. In fact, I can’t stand it!

IDEA rocks and is the best Java IDE money can buy.
